SIR SEEWOOSAGUR RAMGOOLAM BOTANICAL GARDEN popularly known as PAMPLEMOUSSES BOTANICAL GARDEN is one the main tourist attractions located in Pamplemousses. NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, which was built in the year 1880, is one of the must see attractions. It is located at Mauritius Institute Building on the Ground Floor. 2664 feet tall, LE POUCE, also known as THE THUMB, is the 3rd Highest Mountain in Mauritius. The Shape of the Le Pouce Mountain looks like a Thumb, hence it is named as The Thumb. It is believed that the rock is around 10 millions years old. It is a Trekkers Delight Place. Its easy to reach the top with minimum trekking skills. Le Pouce can be approached from the North Side (Port Louis) as well as from the South Side (Moka). It will be a challenging task to visit this mountain during rainy season. The starting point is Trailhead in Tranquebar and it takes around 2 hours to reach the top by walk.

It is located at an height of 240 feet above the sea level. It was constructed by William IV to protect enemies attack from the harbor side. You get breathtaking view while walking all the way from the fort to harbor.

During Winter time, various species of birds would migrate from Siberia to enjoy the mind blowing temperature of this Island. Since this Bird Sanctuary is located on the coastal area, this place is well protected by the Mauritian Authorities. The Rivulet Terre Rouge Estuary spreads across 26 hectares of land. More than 1200 birds visits regularly. Authorities monitor the entire area of the sanctuary regularly to ensure that the surroundings doesn't get affected by the activities of human. There is a strict law enforced to the industries situated around the sanctuary, regarding the disposal of wastes to protect the greenery of the park.
