NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, which was built in the year 1880, is one of the must see attractions. It is located at Mauritius Institute Building on the Ground Floor. There are Four Galleries inside the place namely 1. Fauna Gallery, 2. Marine Life Gallery, 3. The World of the Dodo Gallery and 4. Insects, Meteorology & Giant Tortoise Gallery. 1. In Fauna Gallery, educational trip about Jurassic Time would take you back to over 150 million years. Also seen are the Bones of Giant Elephant Bird. The Egg of Giant Elephant Bird weighs around 400 kilograms. Other interesting specimens found here are the specimens of Indian Myna, Common Wax Bill, House Sparrow, The Spice Finch, Red Tailed Tropical Bird, Trinidad Petrel, White Tailed Tropic Bird, Pink Pigeon, Olive White Eye, Kestrel, Paradise Flycatcher, Black Bulbul, Fody and Cuckooshrike. 2. In Marine Life Gallery, Sea Animals pertaining to Indian Ocean can be seen. Most of the marine animals are displayed in  glass cases, where few of them can be seen hanging from the ceiling. History about fish poisoning which was reported in the year 1601, is highlighted inside this gallery. 3. AAPRAVASI GHAT, a World Heritage Site was built in the year 1849 as a Immigration Depot to receive the laborers from India, China, Eastern Africa and South East Asia to work in the Sugar Estates. The Aapravasi Ghat consists of Entrance Gateway, Gate Keeper's Room, Stable, Cart House, Kitchen, Surgery & Ward Room, Staff Privies, Immigrant's Sheds, Immigrant's Kitchen, Sirdar's Quarters, Immigrant's Privies, Bathing Area, Steps and Outer Wall at Wharf Level. PHOTOGRAPHY MUSEUM attracts numerous visitors through out the year. Collections like Camera, Projectors, Scripts and Photos, that pertains to 18th century, are displayed for the visitors. Also seen are Thousands of Negatives, Documents, Photographs, Post Cards, Authentic Photo Frames and Camera Accessories. One can know about the Petrol Operated Projector and Precursor of the Television that were in use during the year 1870. A Stereoscopic Apparatus and Projects, that were used during the year 1913 in Cinema Halls, are displayed inside the gallery. Unique photographs of First Local Newspaper published in the year 1773, Indian Laborers Entering Aapravasi Ghat in the year 1857 and the 1st Plane landing at Mon Choisy Beach in the year 1933 can be seen. Gallery is open for visitors from 10.00 AM to 03.00 PM on Monday to Friday. 

MAURITIUS POSTAL MUSEUM, the must see location, preserves the mails exchanged between Mauritius with outsiders way back to the year 1638. This was the year the first immigrant came to settle in Mauritius. Postal Heritage Building was inaugurated in the year 1868. Ideal place to discover the history of postal services from its origin. This historical gallery is open for visitors from 08.15 AM to 04.00 PM on Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and other public holidays it from 08.15 AM to 011.45 AM. 

JUMMA MOSQUE or JUMMA MASJID is a Mosque. Jumma Mosque was earlier known as Mosquee Des Arabes means Mosque of the Arabs. This Masjid was established on 20th October 1852. Architect of the building follows Indian, Creole as well as Islamic style of Architecture. Most Amazing Religious Building is located at Royal Road. Islamic Personalities, Scholars, Naatkhwan visit this Masjid regularly. There is a Dargah for the people to Pray. A live broadcast of Friday Prayers take place every week. It is one of the very few oldest religious building still exists in this country. 

2664 feet tall, LE POUCE, also known as THE THUMB, is the 3rd Highest Mountain in Mauritius. The Shape of the Le Pouce Mountain looks like a Thumb, hence it is named as The Thumb. It is believed that the rock is around 10 millions years old. It is a Trekkers Delight Place. Its easy to reach the top with minimum trekking skills. Le Pouce can be approached from the North Side (Port Louis) as well as from the South Side (Moka). It will be a challenging task to visit this mountain during rainy season. The starting point is Trailhead in Tranquebar and it takes around 2 hours to reach the top by walk. 

The Second Highest Mountain of Mauritius is the 2,690 feet tall THE PIETER BOTH. The Pieter Both, missed the 1st spot by just 8 meters. The Gigantic Rock Formations looks like Human Head at the top of the mountain. It takes around an hour to reach the top with little difficulties. Carry a rope while climbing as the formation of rocks is very scramble. This is named after Dutch East Indies 1st Governor General. There are several Iron Spikes fixed in many places on the mountain. The diameter of the pinnacle is around 30 feet. For Trekkers, it would give a memorable experience. 

AKA LA CITADELLE, also Known as FORT ADELAIDE, was named after the Queen Adelaide. It is believed that this fort was built between 1834 and 1840. It is located at an height of 240 feet above the sea level. It was constructed by William IV to protect enemies attack from the harbor side. You get breathtaking view while walking all the way from the fort to harbor. 

THE RIVULET TERRE ROUGE ESTUARY BIRD SANCTUARY is one of the main attractions in the capital city. During Winter time, various species of birds would migrate from Siberia to enjoy the mind blowing temperature of this Island. Since this Bird Sanctuary is located on the coastal area, this place is well protected by the Mauritian Authorities. The Rivulet Terre Rouge Estuary spreads across 26 hectares of land. More than 1200 birds visits regularly. Authorities monitor the entire area of the sanctuary regularly to ensure that the surroundings doesn't get affected by the activities of human. There is a strict law enforced to the industries situated around the sanctuary, regarding the disposal of wastes to protect the greenery of the park. 

SOCKALINGUM MEENATCHEE AMMAN KOVIL is a Hindu Temple located at Tromelin Street. Among the immigrants came to Mauritius, majority of them were from Tamil Nadu, India hence this Temple was constructed for their religious belief. The Main Deity of this Temple is Goddess Meenakshi Amman. Sockalingum Meenatchee Amman Kovil was built in the year 1854. This is one of the must see religious place for pious visitors. 

SIGNAL MOUNTAIN is one of the Easiest Mountain in Port Louis to reach the top. Vehicles are not allowed on the pathway, hence the walkers can happily move forward to the top without bothering about the traffic. One will get an excellent views of Port Louis City from the top of the mountain. This place will be filled with Walkers and Joggers during early morning as well as in the evenings. When the sky is clear, its easy to see Gunner's Quoin which is located on the North Side of the Island. There are Mile Stones at the distance of every 500 meters.
