GWALIOR is the capital city of the Indian State Madhya Pradesh. Hindi is the language spoken widely. Gwalior is well known for its Indian Classical Music, Art and Literature. How to Reach Gwalior?

Official name of Gwalior Airport is RAJMATA VIJAYA RAJE SCINDIA AIR TERMINAL and it spread across around 760 acres of land. Currently Air Odisha and Alliance Air are operating flights from Delhi, Lucknow, Indore, Bhopal and Mumbai. Airport is just around 10 kilometers from the main city. Gwalior Railway Station is one of the important Railway Stations in Madhya Pradesh Station. There are trains from all major cities of the country. Currently, there are four broad gauge and single narrow gauge routes. Also Government as well as Private Bus Services are available from many parts of North India to reach Gwalior. For roaming around the city, local transports are available like Government Buses, Tempos, Auto Rickshaws, Ola Cabs and Micro Buses.

GWALIOR FORT is one of the main attractions in this capital city. Structures include main monuments like Jain Temples, Teli Ka Mandir, Garuda Monument, Sahastrabahu Temple also referred as Sas Bahu Temple and Gurdwara Data Bandi Chhor. Huge palace includes the monuments like Man Mandir Palace, Hathi Pol, Karn Mahal, Vikram Mahal and Chhatri of Bhim Singh Rana. JAI VILAS MAHAL also known as JAI VILAS PALACE, is one of the palaces that was built during 19th century. Built in the year 1874, the Jai Vilas Palace is the perfect destination to know about European Architectural style of construction. Jai Vilas Mahal spreads across 1,240,771 square feet of area. This palace is well known for its huge Durbar Hall and the amazing decorations with Glit and Gold furnishings. 100 feet long & 50 feet wide Durbar Hall also contains Huge Carpet and Gigantic Chandeliers. Palace is filled with Bizarre items like Cut Glass Furniture, Stuffed Tigers, Ladies Swimming Pool with Boat, Cavernous Dining Room, Model Railway, Silver Train, Dinner Brandy and Cigars. The two huge 12.5 meter high chandeliers that weighs around 3500 kilograms is the Largest Pair of Chandeliers in the World. These Chandeliers are covered with around 250 light bulbs. 

H H MAHARAJA SIR JIWAJIRAO SCINDIA MUSEUM or JAI VILAS MUSEUM is located inside Jai Vilas Palace in Lashkar. In the Ground Floor, Scindia Lineage, Sardars, Uniforms, Textiles, Carriages and Indoor Swimming Pool are the galleries that can be seen. There are more than 10 rooms in the 1st floor and galleries includes Oriental Art Room, Neo Classical Room, Napoleon Table Room, Kerman Masha ir Carpet Room and Crystal Furniture Room. Darbar Hall Complex consists of galleries like Silver Toy Train, Tat Pat Bhojan Hall, Billiards Room, Gold Gilt Darbar along with few more galleries. Tiger Gallery and Royal Kitchen Gallery are located in the East Wing. Collections includes French Furniture, English Furniture, Malabar Furniture, Oriental Furniture, Crystal Furniture, Artefacts personally used by the Scindias, Carriage, Paintings, Prints, Sculptures from 2nd Century to 20th Century, 19th to 21st Century Decorative Arts and Textile pertaining to Mughal period are displayed for the visitors to learn and know about the ancient culture and life style. 

TELI KA MANDIR is an ancient temple and it is located inside the Gwalior Fort. Teli Ka Mandir was built during 11th century and it is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Teli Ka Mandir means Oilman's Temple in English. Standing at an elevation of 100 feet, the Teli Ka Mandir is the Tallest Temple as well as Oldest Temple of the Gwalior Fort. 

MAN SINGH PALACE is an Imperial Style Palace that was built between the years 1486 and 1516 by Man Singh. It is considered as one of the Most Decorated Monuments of India. Its treat to watch the tile works done on the exterior. Cravings on the exterior tiles includes yellow ducks, elephants on the mosaics, crocodiles, blue tiger, yellow tiger and green tiger. There are four levels in Man Singh Palace. The lower levels are designed in such a way to get free from hot temperature during summer days. 

GOPACHAL PARVAT also known as GOPACHAL ROCK CUT JAIN MONUMENTS is located on the South Side of Gwalior Fort. The monuments consists of around 100 Jain Carvings that were carved between 7th and 15th century. The portray of Tirthankaras (a Saviour and Spiritual teaches of the Dharma or Righteous Path) are found in Seated Posture or Padmasana Posture as well as in Standing or Kayotsarga Posture. 

ITALIAN GARDEN is located in Phool Bagh Area and it is around 300 meters from the Zoo. One of the best place to spend time with family in the lush green and calm environment. Attractions inside this Italian style garden are Cascading Waters and Amazing Fountains. This beautiful garden is is well connected with Baiji Ki Tal, an astonishing garden with clear water pool. TOMB OF TANSEN is one of the must visit location in Gwalior. Tansen was a greatest musicians and also an eminent vocalists. He was one of the nine gems of Mughal Court during Akbar period. Tomb of Tansen is a small tomb and it is open for visitors on all days of the week. Every year during the month of November, Annual Tansen Music Festival takes place in this place. 

KARAN MAHAL is one of the Public Audience Halls that was erected by Maharaj Anup Singh during the year 1690. Karan Mahal is Bikaner's first monument as well as Rajputana's second oldest Mughal Style Mahal.

GUJARI MAHAL also known as STATE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM is one of the Historical as well as an important monuments. Sometimes it is referred as GWALIOR FORT MUSEUM. This historical monument was built by Man Singh during 15th century in the memory of his wife. Currently archaeological department is taking care of its daily operations by showcasing various ancient sculptures, statues along with many artefacts. 1st and 2nd Century collections can be seen inside the museum.

GWALIOR ZOO, also known as GANDHI ZOO was established in the year 1922 by Madhao Rao Scindia family and it spread across eight acres of land. It is a larger garden referred as Phool Bagh and it is the home for rare species of animals. Major species includes Golden Peasants, Sambhars, Bison, Hyena, Spotted Deer, Black Bucks, White Tigers, Crocodiles, Snakes, Monkeys and Birds. The huge garden, PHOOL BAGH was inaugurated by Prince of Wales. Attractions inside the Phool Bagh includes Prayer Hall, Gurudwara, Mosque and a Theosophical Lodge. 

SUN TEMPLE is popularly referred as THE SURYA MANDIR is an Hindu Pilgrimage Place and it is well known for its architectural beauty. Surya mandir was built in the year 1988 by industrialist G D Birla and it is dedicated to Lord Surya. Outlook of Sun Temple looks like the shape of a chariot that is being pulled by seven horses. Four horses can be seen on one side and three on the other side, depicting seven days of the week. There are twenty four wheels on the chariot that implies 24 hours in a day. Temple is built with red sand stone with adorable interiors along with marble floors add to its beauty.

SURAJ KUND is a reservoir that was constructed around 10th century by Raja Suraj Pal of Tomar Dynasty. The name means Lake of the Sun. It is located near the Gwalior Fort and the water in this tank is believed to have medicinal powers to cure chronic diseases. It is one of the attractive places to visit in Gwalior as the atmosphere around this place makes one feel relaxed.

SAAS BAHU KA MANDIR is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu built in the 9th century. This temple attracts large number of tourists for its attractive stone carvings and sculptures. The name is a short form of Shastra Bahu. There are two temples situated adjacent to each other.

TOMB OF MOHAMMED GHAUS is a 16th century mausoleum that contains the resting place of Mohammed Ghaus, a prince turned Sufi. It is an excellent piece of Mughal Architecture and is a famous pilgrimage spot for hindus and muslims. The places is thronged by many visitors for its extraordinary architecture and serene atmosphere.

SAROD GHAR, is the ancestral home of Amjad Ali Khan, a renowned Sarod Maestro. This place is also called Sarod Museum and it promotes Indian Classical music, heritage and culture. This museum holds several rare photos and musical instruments of ancient India and their main aim is to create awareness and respect for classical music.

KALA VITHIKA is also a museum that preserves many musical instruments of great musicians of Ancient India. It depicts several mural art pieces and is a must visit place for those interested in the history of arts and music.

CHATURBHUJ TEMPLE is a Hindu temple with all the carvings made of monolithic rocks. The main deities are for armed Vishnu and four armed Goddess Lakshmi. Hence, the name chathur bhuj. The temple is well known world wide for its earliest inscription of symbolizing "0" to mean Zero.

VIKRAM MAHAL, also known as Vikram Mandir, is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was built by Vikramaditya Singh, the elder son of Maharaj Man Singh. The Mughals destroyed this Mandir during their invasion but now it has been renewed in front portion of the Mahal.

SIDDHACHAL CAVES are located inside Gwalior Fort and consists of statutes related to Jainism. The statutes shows all 24 Jain Tirthankaras in both seated as well as standing postures. They are rock cut monuments with Jain colossi. These statutes pertains to the period between 7th century and 15th century.
