MANALI is one of the Hill Stations in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. It is situated at an altitude of 6,726 feet near the Northern end of the Kullu Valley. This Hill station serves as the gateway to the districts of Lahaul, Leh and Spiti. Hindi is the official language spoken here and since the income mainly depends on Tourism, many locals can speak English as well. How to Reach Manali?
Kullu - Manali Airport, also known as BHUNTAR Airport, is located in the district of Bhuntar in Kullu. It is around 52 kilometers from Manali. Currently only Alliance Air operates flights from Chandigarh and Delhi. Also, we can reach this holiday destination by bus from major parts of North India. There are various ways to get around in Manali like hiring a taxi, hiring a motor bike and travelling by local bus.

SOLANG VALLEY is one of the must visit destination when you are in Manali. This place attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. It is a treat to our eyes to watch this valley during winters as the entire valley will be covered with snow. For Adventure Lovers, this place is like a Paradise as several activities takes place here. Paragliding, Parachuting, Horse Riding and Driving Mini Open Jeeps are the popular adventure sports. Apart from the adventure activities, other activities available to enjoy your trip are Horse Riding and Fancy Photography. While walking down the valley, you get a chance to see a huge transparent ball with one or two people inside it rolling down the slope during winter. It is better to avoid visiting this place during peak winter as the temperature drops down up to -1 degree Celsius. You may have to spend around three to four hours here to visit the entire valley. Himachal Road Transport Corporation operates regular bus services to reach this place.
ROHTANG PASS is situated 51 kilometers from the main town and is at a height of 3978 meters. To reach upto Rohtang Pass or go further, all visitors need to get a permit from the concerned authorities. One can experience the beauty of nature at its best in all its forms like snow covered peaks, landscapes, breathtaking views and many more. The pass is closed during heavy snowfall period of November to May. It is the only place in India to be covered by Snow throughout the year. State run buses connects this place from major cities like Chandigarh and Delhi. It is advisable to visit this place in the day time.
HADIMBA TEMPLE is a one of its kind in the country dedicated to Hadimba Devi, wife of Bhima and mother of Ghatothkach. It is built on a rock with the image of the goddess herself and is surrounded by cedar forests. Built in the year 1553, this temple consists of four wooden storeys and is an excellent piece of Pagoda style of architecture. Topmost roof is conical in shape and is made of metal. During Dussehra, Devi Hidimba is taken to Dhalpur Maidan and is celebrated in a grand manner.
VASHISHT BATHS, situated at a distance of around 6 kilometers from Manali, are Natural Hot Springs that are accompanied by an amazing Sandstone Temple. There are separate areas for men and women to take bath. Medicinal properties are present in these natural spring water and it is believed that bathing here cures skin diseases. Plenty of shops are located in this spot where you can shop items like Souvenirs and Religious Merchandise.
THE GREAT HIMALAYAN NATIONAL PARK that spreads across 754 square kilometers is located between 1500 and 6000 meters above the sea level. This is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Himalayan National Park consists of four valleys namely Sainj Valley, Tirthan Valley, Jiwa Nal Valley and Parvati Valley. Three sides of the park are surrounded by Himalayan Mountains. This place is the home for around 375 species of Fauna, Mammals and Birds. Various levels of Trekking ranging from easy, moderate to tough is one of the activities that takes place here. Between April and May & from October to November, Bird Watching activity takes place. Eco Zone is an another activity where we get the chance to experience Rock Climbing, River Crossing and Abseiling between March and May and again between September and November.
MANU TEMPLE is one of the pilgrimage places for Hindus is dedicated to Sage Manu. It is the only temple in the world dedicated to King Manu who was later known as Sage Manu. The road that leads to this temple is narrow and hence it is difficult to reach the top. Manu temple was built in Pagoda style of architecture. The diminishing wooden roof here looks similar to the shrines in Nepal. Entire structure is made of wood and concrete. From Manali Market, this temple is situated at a distance of around 3 kilometers.
NEHRU KUND is a Cold and Pristine Water that is running in Manali. India's first prime minister, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru is said to have had water from this natural spring and hence its name. Visitors to this place get a chance to see the breath taking scenery of mountains and valleys.
OLD MANALI is a Paradise for Backpackers and a best place to sit on the lap of nature and can relax. Presence of Swaying Eucalyptus, Winding Roads, Gushing Waters from Kullu River makes this destination a perfect natural retreat. Never miss to see the sunrise and sunset here. Hidimba Temple located here attracts thousands of devotees every year. One can explore the roads by hiring a scooter. Cherries are very famous in this location and continental food are available for the visitors to refresh.
VAN VIHAR is a National Park. There is a huge park inside which attracts several visitors from all over the world. Attractions inside are Sparkling man made lake, Lush green landscape, Boating on the placid waters, Towering deodar trees, chirp of the beetles, Hypnotic bird song and Panoramic view of sunset behind the Himalayan ranges.
MANALI SANCTUARY, an Impressive Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a walking distance from the main town. Attractions here are the presence of Rich Flora & Fauna, Reptiles, Birds, Mammals and Animals. Trekking routes and Camping facilities are available inside the sanctuary. Camping is allowed only during the months of summer.
GAYATHRI TEMPLE is one of the religious places, located at the distance of around seven kilometers from the main town. Goddess Gayathri Devi is the main deity and Her idol is made of marble. This temple is well known for its architectural beauty and woodwork.
MANIKARAN SAHIB TOURISM is located along Parvati River Banks in the Parvati Valley. It is one of the important pilgrimage destinations for Sikhs and Hindus. Many Temples and Gurudwara are located in this location. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi stayed here for around 1110 years. Three Hot Springs are located in Manikaran and separate bathing sections are available for men and women. Water in Hot Springs contains Uranium, Sulphur and Radioactive Elements. Water is considered to be auspicious and even today it is still boiling and it is hot enough to prepare food for thousands of devotees directly.
BEAS KUND TREK, nature and adventure lovers definitely have this in their itinerary during their Manali vacation. It takes about two days for this trek and the visitors are required to take their own camping tents, enough water and the required food. It is also advisable to go for this trek with a recognized and well trained guide to avoid any untoward incidents. Starting point of this trek is from Manali, with base camp Solang. From Base camp, 11 km stretch upto Bakerthach is covered on day 1 via Deo Tibba & Indrasan Peak. On Day 2, a distance of 6 kms is covered upto Beas Kund. Enroute, trekkers can have a perfect view of summits like Shitidhar, Ladakhi, Friendship peaks and Lahaul Valley.
CHANDRATAL BARALACHA TREK is located on Samudra Plateau of Spiti Valley and its around 4,300 meters above the sea level. Hence, nothing can beat the elements like Nature's Beauty, Challenges, Thrilling Experience and Tranquility. During the first part of the trek, trekkers get the chance to enjoy the turquoise waters of the lake, pristine landscape, mountain passes, plenty of gushing steams, verdant meadows, bush of colorful orchards along with exotic wildlife. Certainly one will remember this experience through out their life. Baralacha located at an altitude of 4,890 meters, situated on the Leh - Manali Highway is the second part of the trek. The pathway connects Spiti, Ladakh, Zanskar and Lahaul regions.
HAMTA PASS TREK, situated in the Manali Region is one of the most convenient and enjoyable treks. The pathways are covered with Pine Forests, Pristine Glacial Valleys, Meadows and Panoramic Landscape. It is the best place for beginners as well as experienced. Tentatively a trip will last for between 4 and 5 days. Clean mountain river water are available during the trekking. Proper accommodation facilities are not provided by Hamta Pass and hence tourists should carry their own sleeping bags and tents.
DEO TIBBA BASE CAMP TREK is filled with the richness of beautiful landscapes, through the grazing pastures of Gaddi shepherds. You can have a glimpse of clear blue waters of Chandratal lake and huge hanging glaciers here.his place is a heaven for trekkers and includes gorges, lush green valley, misty woods, icy rivers, meadows with flowers, snow capped peaks, glaciers and lakes.
CHANDRAKHANI PASS is located in Kullu. The mountains surrounding the Kully Valley are nestled between Pirpanjal and Dhauladhar Ranges. Visitors from all over the world comes here to enjoy the fertile fields,evergreen thicket and crystal clear gushing water. It is located at an altitude of 3600 meters. It is one of the popular base for trekking. This valley is very narrow and on both sides steep mountains can be seen. The ideal time to visit is between the months of June and October.
