MARINA BEACH is a Natural Urban Beach that runs a distance of around 13 kilometers. It is the Longest Natural Beach in India and also Marina Beach is the Longest Beach in the World. This beach is one of the most crowded beaches in India. Around 200,000 people visit marina during summer days. Legally, Bathing and Swimming are Prohibited here because the undercurrent is very turbulent. It is one of the most visited tourist places in Chennai. Marina is also so popular for its 500 plus shops including food stalls. There are so many Memorials and Statues located here. One of the best place for Walkers and Joggers to practice in the fresh environment. The common sports one can see any time here are Kite Flying and Beach Cricket. There are two swimming pools namely the Marina Swimming Pool and the Anna Swimming Pool for the swimmers to enjoy their visit. 

ARIGNAR ANNA ZOOLOGICAL PARK, popularly known as VANDALUR ZOO is located in Vandalur. Zoo covers an area of around 1,300 acres of land. This is the home for more than 2,300 animals of over 169 species. Main attractions in this Zoological Park are Lion Safari Park, Deer Safari Park,1.5 acre Walk through Aviary, Forest Museum and Aquarium. At nominal charges, visitors can avail the Zoo Round Vehicle service to visit the entire zoo complex. Also, Lion and Deer Safari Vans are available for the visitors at nominal cost. Apart from the normal Zoo Round Vehicles, Battery Operated Vehicles are available to move in and around the Zoo. Cycles are also available on rent for zoo rounds. Facilities includes Drinking Water, Modernized Toilet, Tiled & Painted Benches and Sheds at several places. The Deer Park located inside are home to nearly 100 Sambar and Spotted Deer. Mammals, Birds & Reptiles found in this zoological park are Barking Deer, Black Buck, Wolf, Lion, Tiger, Jaguar, Deer, Hyena, Giraffe, Camel, Elephant, Langur, Baboon, Macaques, Lizard, Chimpanzees, Bear, Duck, Lemur, Vulture, Tortoise, Emu, Cassowary along with many more to add. 

KAPALEESHWARAR TEMPLE is located in Mylapore. It is believed that this temple was built during the 7th century CE. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Apart from the main deity, several shrines of gods and goddess can be seen inside the complex. One cannot miss the 37 meter tall Gopuram or Tower built with dravidan style of architecture. Daily six rituals takes place for lord Shiva at various times between 5.30 in the morning till 10 in the evening. The Vahanas (means Vehicles) found inside are Bull, Ashikaranandi, Elephant, Bandicoot, Peacock, Goat, Parrot and Golden Chariot. Main festivals celebrated here are the nine day long ''Panguni Peruvizha or Spring Festival and the Arupathimoovar Festival, named after 63 Nayanmars. 

DAKSHINA CHITRA MUSEUM is located in East Coast Road. Never miss to try the activities like Simple Art and Crafts when you visit this place. You get the chance to play the traditional games, board games, spin tops, break pots and much more to add fun. Traditional leather puppet show, glass blowing demo and traditional soothsayers are the activities takes place every weekend. Workshop for Adults and Children happens in Dakshina Chitra regularly. Exhibition on different concepts will be displayed on most of the days. Try to attend the seminars on current issues pertaining to Arts, Crafts, Heritage and Culture. In collaboration with Nalandaway, they have created Dakshina Chitra Art Lab to support the children facing economical and societal challenges. In Museum, they are offering weekend course on folk performance for Thappattam, Oyilattam, Devarattam, Silambattam, Mayilattam, Poikkal Kudiraiyattam and Karagattam. These courses covers both Theory as well as Practicals. Restaurants, Library and Guest House facilities are available. 

EDWARD ELLIOT'S BEACH, popularly known as BESANT NAGAR BEACH, is located in Besant Nagar. It is named after the onetime Chief Magistrate & Superintendent of Police Shri Edward Elliot. Unlike Marina, this place is less crowded. There is a police outpost at the entrance of the beach for the security of the visitors. All Terrain Vehicles are on their duty round the clock to prevent drowning incidents. Elliot's Beach is one of the Cleanest as well as Safest Beaches in this capital city. There are several shops including eateries are located at the beach area. One get the chance to enjoy the Horse Riding at nominal price.  Children can try Balloon Shooting and few interesting rides here. Ashtalakshmi Temple and Velankanni Church are the nearby attractions. 

GUINDY NATIONAL PARK is the 8th Smallest National Park in India. Established in the year 1977, the Guindy Park spreads across around 2.7 square kilometer of public land. More than 350 species of Trees, Shrubs, Climbers, Herbs and Grasses can be seen in this small and compact picnic spot. Tree varieties includes Sugar Apple, Atlantia Monophylla, Wood Apple and Neem. Also, this is the home for over 14 species of animals like Black Buck, Spotted Deer, Jackal, Indian Civet, Palm Civet, Bonnet Macaque, Hyena, Pangolin, Hedgehog, Mongoose, Bats, Rodents and Palm Squirrel. Also seen inside are around 150 species of birds. This park is also the home for 9 plus species of amphibians. Other attractions are Snake Park and Children's Park. 

THE GOVERNMENT MUSEUM is also referred as MADRAS MUSEUM, is located at Egmore. One get to know about Human History and Culture by visiting this government museum. This Second Oldest Museum in India was opened in the year 1851. Plenty of Archaeological and Numismatic collections can be seen here. Also, this museum possess the Largest collection of Roman Antiquities. Also found inside the museum is the National Art Gallery. The complex spread across over 16.20 acres of land. Collections are neatly displayed in 46 unique galleries. Objects displayed here are Artifacts Varieties, Archaeology, Numismatics, Zoology, Natural History, Sculptures, Palm Leaf Manuscripts and Paintings of Amravati.

VGP UNIVERSAL KINGDOM, located on East Coast Road is a Family Amusement Park. Attractions here are Petting Zoo, Statue Man, Beach, Live Shows, Show Kingdom, Panner Fort and Restaurants. In Petting Zoo, visitors get a chance to Feed and Play with Goats, Sheep, Pigs and Ponies. Since 1975, The Statue Man is one of the popular attractions here. SHIRDI SAI BABA TEMPLE is located in Mylapore. Built in the year 1952, this temple is dedicated to Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi, an Indian Saint. This temple was built by a Sai Baba Devotee, Shri Narasimhaswami. It is one of the most trusted temples in India. This religious place is popularly known as ''Shirdi of the South''. There is a separate Meditation Hall to relax yourselves. Also, annadhanam takes place every day here. Several devotees all around the world visit here to seek the blessings of Shirdi Sai. If you are a devotee of Sai, never miss to visit this place. 

VALLUVAR KOTTAM is one of the Popular Monuments in Chennai. Valluvar Kottam is dedicated to Thiruvalluvar, a Tamil Poet, Philosopher and Saint. The construction is similar to a Temple Chariot and to be precise, it is a replica of Thiruvarur Temple Chariot. The height of the chariot is 128 feet. Life Size statue of Thiruvalluvar is installed inside the chariot. There is an auditorium inside valluvar kottam which can accommodate over 4,000 people. 

QUEENS LAND is a famous Theme Park and Water Park located on Chennai Bangalore Trunk Road. Queens land entertainment spread across 70 acres of land and there are 51 rides including 18 Children Rides. Entry Fees is applicable to enter this theme park and no charges are applicable for rides. FORT ST GEORGE, also referred as WHITE TOWN,  was built by British East India Company in the year 1644. Currently, this Fort houses the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Members. Attraction here includes The St Mary's Church, The Fort Museum, Wellesley House and Flag Staff. St Mary's Church was built between the years 1678 and 1680 and it is the Oldest Anglican Churches in India. Several Items and Monuments such as Weapons, Coins, Medals, Uniforms, Artefacts from England, Artefacts from Scotland & France, Original Letters written by Clive & Cornwallis, Quaint Period Uniforms, statue of Lord Cornwallis and few more pertaining to British Era can be seen inside the Fort Museum. Inside Wellesley House, paintings of the Governor of the Fort, High Officials and Tipu Sultan's Cannon can be seen. Made of Teak-wood, the 150 feet tall Flag Staff located here in this Fort is the Tallest Flag Staff in India. 

BIRLA PLANETARIUM, located in Kotturpuram is a Large Planetarium. It is situated inside Periyar Science and Technology Centre Campus. Over 500 exhibits are displayed in eight galleries namely Physical Science, Electronics & Communication, Energy, Life Science, Innovation, Transport, International Dolls and Children & Material Science. This Planetarium was built in the year 1988 to honor the great Industrialist and Visionary of India B M Birla. The most Modern Planetarium is India is Birla Planetarium. Sky Shows about Solar System, Sky & Seasons, Eclipses, Earth, Man on Moon, Comets, Shooting Meteoroids, Stellar Cycle and Deep Sky takes place daily at various times in different languages. 

ST THOMAS CATHEDRAL BASILICA, also known as ST THOMAS CHURCH, is a Roman Catholic Church. During the 16th century, this place was built by the Portuguese Explorers over the tomb of Saint Thomas. In the year 1893, Britishers reconstructed this as a Church. This cathedral is one of the Three known Churches in the World that was constructed over the tomb of an Apostle of Jesus. 

VIVEKANANDAR ILLAM or VIVEKANANDA HOUSE is a Historic Landmark in Chennai. This place was earlier known as Ice House or Castle Kernan. Swami Vivekananda stayed in Castle Kernan for nine days during his visit to Chennai in  February 1897. In the year 1963, Tamil Nadu Government renamed this Castle Kernan as Vivekanandar Illam. Permanent Exhibition about Indian Culture and Swamiji's Life can be seen here. There is book store that sells Books, CD's and DVD's about Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Sarada Devi, Vedanta and Self Improvement that are published by Ramakrishna Math. 

REGIONAL RAILWAY MUSEUM is a must visit Railway Museum. This museum was established in the year 2002. Spread across 6.25 acres of land, this museum displays both Technical and Heritage artifacts. Collections includes Steam Engines that were in use during British Era, Vintage Coaches, 100 years old collections and Models that were manufactured by North British Locomotive Company. Visitors can travel in a Toy Train to move around the premises on working days. 

KISHKINTA, India's Number One Theme Park is located near Tambaram. Kishkintha spreads across 120 acres of landscaped hills as well as lakes. Rides here are classified as Water Wars, Water Rides, Dry Rides, Shows, Kiddies Rides and Payment Rides. Galleries in the Park are Rainbow Tunnel, Flume Ride, Multi Lane, Three Idiots, Wave Pool, Water Wars, Bumper Car, Bull Fight, Dragon Coaster, Dancing Duck, Squit See Saw, Water Fun, Chennai Kutralam,  Water Play System, Eskimo Ride and Multi Lane. MGM DIZEE WORLD, located on East Coast Road is a Theme Park. There are several attractions here namely Adult Ride, Children Ride, Family Ride and Family Entertainment. Family Entertainments are Alai Osai, Amphi Theater, Boating, Carnival Games, Chinna Kitralum, MGM Express, Rain Tree and Tree House.11 available Family Rides are Balloon Race, Carousal, Cricket Game, Game Arcade, Rainbow, Reindeer Coaster, Sky Glider, Super Trucks, Swimming Pool, Twister and Water MGR. SEMMOZHI POONGA was opened for public on 24th November 2010. It is a must visit Botanical Garden located opposite to American Consulate. Semmozhi Poonga spread across an area of around 20 acres of land consists of over 500 species of plants. Few of the trees seen in the park are more than 100 years old. Except Tuesdays, this garden is open for public from 10 in the morning till 8 in the evening. To encourage Morning Walkers, this garden is exclusively open for them from 6 AM to 8 AM. 

MGR MEMORIAL was built in the year 1988 in the memory of Tamil Nadu's former Chief Minister Late Shri. M.G.Ramachandran. MGR Memorial spread around 8.25 acres of land. This memorial is on the Marina Beach and adjacent to Anna Memorial. Body of Shri. M. G. Ramachandran is buried at this memorial. At the Northern Side, a Museum on MGR is located. 

ANNA MEMORIAL, popularly referred as ANNA SAMADHI. is built on the Marina Beach. It is a Memorial Building that was built in the memory of Tamil Nadu's former Chief Minister Late Shri C N Annadurai. He was cremated here in this place in the year 1969. His Museum is located on the Norther Side Anna Samadhi. 

CHENNAI SNAKE PARK TRUST is also known as GUINDY SNAKE PARK. Wide range of Snakes such as Pythons, Vipers, Cobras and other Reptiles can be seen here. Over 23 Species of Indian Snakes along with Crocodile, Tortoise and Lizard enjoying their stay here.


PARTHASARATHY TEMPLE is dedicated to Lord Krishna and it is one of the oldest temples in India. This temple was built during the 8th century by Pallavas. Located at a distance of around 5 kms from Central Railway Station, the Parthasarathy Temple is one of the Top Tourist Places in Chennai. Temple is open from 6.30 am to 12 noon and from 4 pm to 8 pm on all days.

NATIONAL ART GALLERY is located at a distance of around 3 kms from Central Railway Station. One of the oldest art galleries in India, the National Art Gallery is situated inside the Government Museum Complex in Egmore. This art gallery is divided in to four sections namely Tanjore Painting Gallery, Decorative Art Gallery, Indian Traditional Art Gallery and Raja Ravi Varma Painting Gallery. Gallery is open for visitors from 9 am to 5 pm on all days except on Fridays & National Holidays.

VADAPALANI MURUGAN TEMPLE is one of the famous Temples in India and this temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan. Lord here is seen wearing footwear. This pilgrimage place is located at a distance of around 3 kms from Koyambedu bus stop. There is a Golden Chariot for Lord Murugan in this temple. Temple daily performs 5 routine poojas on all days. Palliyarai at 5.30 am, Kala Shanthi Pooja at 6.30 am, Uchi Kaala Pooja at 12 noon, Sayaraksha Pooja at 5 pm and Arthajama Pooja at 9 pm.
