PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE is located on the River Bagmati Banks. Lord Pashupatinath, one of the forms of Lord Shiva, is the main deity in this sacred Hindu Temple. Since 1979, the Pashupatinath Temple Complex is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Maha Shivaratri is the main festival celebrated here with devotion. On that day, over 800,000 devotees from all over the world visit this divine place to seek the blessings of Lord Pashupatinath. It is the Oldest Hindu Temple in this capital city. The legends surrounding the temple origin are the Cow Legend, The Linchhavi Legend and The Devalaya Legend. Around 518 Temples and Monuments are located in this 264 hectares of Pashupatinath Temple Complex. Vasuki Nath Temple, Unmatta Bhairav Temple, Surya Narayan Temple, Kirti Mukh Bhairav Shrine, Budanil Kantha Shrine, Hanuman Shrine and 184 Shivaling Shrine are located in the inner courtyard. Ram Mandir, Virat Swaroop Temple, 12 Jyotirlingha, Pandra Shivalaya and Guhyeshwari Temple are located in the outer complex.
BOUDHANATH or KHASA CHAITYA or NEWARI KHASTI is a Stupa. In Nepal, this 118 feet Tall Stupa is One of the Largest Spherical Stupas. Boudhanath is a UNESCO World Heritage since 1979. It is one of the main tourist attractions in this metropolitan city. It is believed that Boudhanath was founded between 590 CE and 604 CE by King Sivadeva of Licchavi Dynasty.
THAMEL is the Tourist Industry Hub in Kathmandu. It is one of the Commercial Place and most of the time this place is crowded. Bhaktapur town is also known as Bhadgaon. It is the highly visited place in the Kathmandu Valley. Major attractions here are The Palace of 55 Windows, Goddess Vatsala Devi Temple, Statue of King Bhupatindra Malla, Nyatapola Temple, Bhairava Nath Temple, Golden Gate, Lion's Gate and Mini Pashupati Temple. THE LANGTANG NATIONAL PARK was established in the year 1976. Spread across 1,710 square kilometers of pubic land, it is the Fourth National Park in Nepal. Climate of Langtang Park vary and it depends on the altitude of the area. During winter season, it will be almost freezing as the highest elevation is around 9,800 feet above the sea level.
CHANGU NARAYANAN is an ancient Hindu Temple that is located on the Kathmandu Valley. It is also known as CHANGU or KOLAGIRI. CENTRAL ZOO is a Private Zoo that was established in the year 1932. It was opened for public only in the year 1956. In Nepal, the 15 acre Central Zoo is the only Zoo in the entire country. Central Zoo is the home for around 870 animals of over 109 species. NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF NEPAL is located near Swayambhunath. Established in the year 1975, National History Museum has more than 50,000 collections that pertains to Flora and Fauna of Nepal. Regular training programmes takes place in this museum regarding Conservation on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora for Teachers, Students and Conservation Sector Employees.
NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NEPAL, a popular attraction, is a 100 plus year old museum. It is the Largest Museum in the country of Nepal. Collections seen inside are Historical Artworks that includes Sculpture & Paintings and Weapons that were used during 18th and 19th century wars. Separate Galleries can be seen about Statues, Paintings, Murals, Coins and Weapons. Collections Animal Species, Butterflies Species and Plants Species are also kept in the display. Other attractions are the Art Gallery and Buddhist Art Gallery.
THE TARAGAON MUSEUM is the centre for Arts & Culture. Galleries found inside are about Photography, Urban Sketches, Drawings and Maps. Unique and Historic Photographs collections found here, pertains to 19th and early 20th centuries. Several artists drawings pertaining to Urban Landscape are kept for display here. Historical Map collections from 18th century are available for the visitors to see inside the Maps Gallery.
