1. AGATHEESWARAR TEMPLE in Kolapakkam, dedicated to Lord SURYAN.

The Details of the Chennai Navagraha Temples are as follows:

1. AGATHEESWARAR TEMPLE in Kolapakkam, dedicated to Lord SURYAN.

This Temple is believed to be over 1300 years old and the main deities here are Sri Agatheeswarar also known as Sri Vaakeesa Mahadhevar (facing East) and Goddess Aanandhavalli (facing South). Agatheeswarar Temple is located in Kolapakkam which is around 18 kilometers from Chennai city. RED color is dedicated to Lord Suryan. Wheat is the grain that is offered to Him. Worshiping Lord Suryan on Sunday is considered as precious. It is believed that Lord Suryan and Sage Agasthiyar worshiped Lord Shiva here and hence the Temple got its name. Other deities found in this temple are Lord Kaala Bhairavar, Lord Ganesh, Lord Dhakshinamurthy, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Durgai and Lord Sandigeshwarar. Main deities are designed in such a way that they face Surya Bhagawan, giving importance to Lord Suryan. ''Arasa Maram" (Peepul Tree) is the Sthala Vruksham for this temple and there is a Temple Tank adjacent to the Temple. Pradhosham and Shivarathiri are celebrated in a grand manner here.  

2. SOMANADHEESWARAR TEMPLE in Somangalam, dedicated to Lord CHANDRAN.

Somandheeswarar Temple is an ancient Temple and it is said to be built during 1073 AD by Kulothunga Chozhan. Somandheeswarar Temple is located in Somangalam which is around 35 kilometers from Chennai city. Main deities here are Sri Somanaadheeswarar and Goddess Kamakshi Amman. Sri Chandra Bhagavan (Moon God), also known as Sri Soman worshiped Lord Shiva here and hence the place got its name as Somangalam and Lord Shiva here is referred as Sri Somanaadheeswarar. There is a separate shrine for Lord Chandra Bhagavan in this Temple facing West. Unique feature found inside this Temple is that the shrine of Nandhi, will be facing East instead facing Lord Shiva. The shrine of Lord Natarajar here is in the form of Sri Chathura Thaandava Murthy. On the outer walls of the sanctum, deities namely Sri Ganesha, Sri Dhakshinamurthy, Sri Brahma, Sri Maha Vishnu, Sri Sandigeshwarar and Goddess Durgai can be seen. Shrines of other deities namely Sri Subramanyar, Sri Bhairavar and Goddess Valli Devasena can be seen on the outer prakaaram. ''Sarakkonrai Maram" is the Sthala Vruksham for this temple. It is believed that the Temple Tank here was created by Lord Sri Sandigeshwarar and hence it is known as Sandeeswara Theertham. 

3. VAIDHEESWARAN TEMPLE in Poovirundhavalli also known as Poonthamalli, dedicated to Lord ANGARAGAN / CHEVVAAI.

Vaidheeswaran Temple is an ancient Temple, which is more than 1000 years old and it is dedicated to Lord Sri Vaidheeswarar( Facing East) and Goddess Thaiyyal Naayagi (Facing South). Vaidheeswaran Temple is located at Poonthamalli which is around 25 kilometers from the Chennai city. It is believed that Lord Angaragan worshiped Lord Shiva here and Lord Angaragan's foot mark is found outside the Sanctum. Special Poojas are performed on Tuesdays. "Thaazhi Panai Maram" (Palm Tree) is the Sthala Vruksham of this temple. Other shrines here includes Sri Dhakshinamurthy, Sri Brahma, Sri Subramanyar, Sri Sandigeshwarar and Goddess Durgai. Baana Lingam can be seen near the main entrance on the northern prakaaram. There is also an entrance on the eastern side of the Temple. In the tamil month of Maasi (Mid Feb - Mid Mar) Surya Pooja takes place from 21st to 25th. On these days at around 6 in the morning, the Sun's rays falls directly on the main deity. This Temple looks very similar to Kumbakonam Vaidheeswaran Temple. 

4. SUNDARESWARAR TEMPLE in Kovur, dedicated to Lord BUDHAN.

Sundareswarar Temple was built by Kulothunga Chozhan during 7th century and the main deities here are Sri Sundareswarar, also known as Sri Thirumaneeswarar and Goddess Soundharaambigai also known as Goddess Thiruvudai Naayagi. Sundareswarar Temple is located in Kovur which is around 22 kilometers from Chennai city. It is believed that Goddess Mahalakshmi worshiped here in the form of Cow and hence the place was earlier known as Kopuri and later as Kovur.  Other deities found here are Sri Veerabadhrar, Sri Subramanyar along with Goddess Valli, Goddess Devasena, 63 Naayanmaars and Navagrahams. The Sthala Vruksham is "Maha Vilvam tree" and each stalk of Maha Vilvam consists of 27 leaves, which is a unique feature. Another special feature includes Saint Thyagaraja has composed 5 krithis, known as Kovur Pancharathanam, in praise of the Lord.

5. RAMANAADHEESWARAR TEMPLE in Porur, dedicated to Lord GURU.

Ramanaadheeswarar Temple is an ancient temple that is connected to the Ramayana Period. It is believed that Lord Rama worshiped Lord Shiva here after a penance. Lord Shiva appeared along with Sri Sivakaama Sundhari and gave darshan to Lord Rama overwhelmed by His penance. Hence the temple got its name. This place is also called as Uthara Rameeswaram. The main deity Sri Ramanaadheswarar is believed to have self evolved (Swayambhu Lingam) and stands facing East. Other deities include Sri Vinayagar, Lord Dakshinamurthy. The special feature is that this temple does not have a Vimanam above the Sanctum. The Sthala Vruksham of this temple is "Vembu Maram" (Neem Tree). Pournami, Pradosham, Sivarathri and Guru Peyarchi are celebrated here. Probably this will be the only Lord Shiva Temple, where Theertham and Sadaari are offered to the devotees as seen in Lord Vishnu Temples. 

6. VELLEESWARAR TEMPLE in Mangadu, dedicated to Lord SUKRAN.

Velleeswarar Temple is an another ancient Temple and the main deity here is Lord Sri Velleeswarar. Mangadu Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple is located very close to this Temple and hence shrine of Ambaal is not present in Velleeswarar Temple. It is believed that Goddess Kamakshi Amman performed meditation here and Lord Shiva came down to earth to give dharshan to Her and marry Her. Lord Sukran was also worshiping Lord Shiva  when Goddess Kamakshi Amman came here. Main deity Lord Velleeswarar is seen facing east. On either side of the entrance, Lord Ganesha and Lord Muruga can be seen. On the outer wall of the Temple, just behind the Sanctum Lord Lingothbavar can be seen with Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu on either side worshiping Him. Also, there is a separate shrine for Lord Sri Veerabadhrar behind the Sanctum. On the North West side of the outer prakaaram shrine of Lord Sri Subramanyar along with Valli and Dhevasena can be seen. 

7. AGATHEESWARAR TEMPLE in Pozhichalur, dedicated to Lord SHANEESWARAN.

Agatheeswarar Temple is an ancient Lord Shiva Temple that was built during Chola Period. Main deities here are Lord Sri Agatheeswarar facing East and Goddess Aanandhavalli facing South. Agatheeswarar Temple is located at Pozhichalur which is around 3 kilometers from Pallavaram railway station. It is believed that Saint Agasthiyar and Lord Shaneeswaran worshiped Lord Shiva here. This place is also referred as ''Vada Thirunallaaru''.  Facing North, this Temple doesn't have Rajagopuram. Lord Shaneeswaran here faces the main deity. The Sthala Vruksham of this temple is "Maa Maram" (Mango Tree). Shiva Lingam along with Nandhi can be seen under the Sthala Vruksham. Temple Pond located inside this Temple is known as ''Sani Theertham''. Other deities here are Lord Ganesha and Lord Anjaneyar. Raahu Kaalam, Pradosham, Aarudhra Dharsanam, Sani Peyarchi, Sivarathri and Karthigai Deepam are celebrated here with devotion. 

8. NEELAKANDESWARAR TEMPLE in Gerugambakkam, dedicated to Lord KETHU.

Neelakandeswarar Temple is an ancient Temple and it was built during Chola Period. Neelakandeswarar Temple is located at Gerugambakkam, which is around 20 kilometers from the Chennai city. Main deities here are Lord Sri Neelakandeswarar and Goddess Aadhi Kamakshi. There is a separate shrine for Lord Kethu Bhagavan here. During Raaghu Kethu Peyarchi, special poojas are performed in this Temple. On the North East side of the Temple, Navagraham can be seen with the carvings of snake image on the ceiling. 

9. NAGESHWARAR TEMPLE in Kundrathur, dedicated to Lord RAHU.

Nageshwarar Temple is more than 800 years old and the main deities here are Lord Sri Nageshwarar facing East and Goddess Kamakshi Amman facing South. This Temple was built by Poet Sri Sekkizhaar, who wrote "Periya Puranam". Nageshwarar Temple is located at Kundrathur, which is around 25 kilometers from the Chennai city. This place is also known as "Vada Thirunaageshwaram". Parihaarams for Rahu are performed here during Raahu Kethu Peyarchi and also during Raahu Kaalam on every Sundays. There is a separate shrine for Poet Sri Sekkizhaar. On the Eastern side of the Temple, Dwajasthambham can be seen. The Sthala Vruksham of this temple is "Shenbaga Maram". Temple Pond here is referred as "Surya Pushkarani".
