KOLLI HILLS also known as KOLLI MALAI is one of the Hill Stations in the INDIAN State of TAMIL NADU. It is located around 1300 meters above the sea level. This location is popular among Motor cycle enthusiasts. There are 70 hairpin bends in this mountain range. Tamil is the local language and as per the local language Kolli Malai means Mountain of Death. During the seasons Spring and Monsoon the mountains are covered by green vegetation. 

For Nature lovers, Hikers, Trekking Clubs and Tourist & Meditation practitioners, Kolli Hills is one of the must visit destinations. Forest here are rich and diverse and these forests are home to several species of endemic trees and plants. Also these forest are home for the wildlife such as Sloth Bear, Barking Deer, Slender Lorris, Indian Pangolin, Jackals, Mangoose, Palm Civet, Reptiles, Lizards, Rare non venomous Snakes and plenty of Birds. Farm products of this mountain includes coffee, black pepper, jack fruit, hill banana, pineapple, oranges, tapioca and spices. The staple food of the tribal people who lives in these mountains are rice and other minor millet. Jack fruit grown in this mountain range is well known for its Taste and Fragrance. Coffee, Honey, Rice, Pepper and Fruits are the popular things to buy in Kolli Hills.    

How to Reach?    

TRICHY Domestic Airport is the nearest airport and it is around 114 kilometres away from the famous hill station destination. From Trichy, Cabs as well as Buses are available. Major Railway Stations near to Kolli Hills are Karur, Salem and Tiruchchirapalli which are around 40, 53 and 64 kilometres away. To roam around the holiday destination, cabs and government buses are available.

Located in the Eastern Ghats, the AGAYA GANGAI WATERFALLS is one of the ideal locations for waterfall enthusiasts. To reach the place, 1300 plus steps of upward trekking is a must. Agaya Gangai Waterfalls originates from the River Aiyaru and it falls from a distance of around 300 feet. Best time to visit this place is between the months of November and March. Visiting during the monsoons is little dangerous. Be safe and wear strong footwear when you visit this falls. This place is suitable for trekking.    

ARAPPALEESWARAR TEMPLE a famous Lord Shiva Temple was built by the Chola Emperors. The architect found on the outside wall of the Arappaleeswarar temple gives us the clear picture about the contributions of the Chola Kings. This Shiva temple is one of the famous temples in entire South India. History says that when this land was being ploughed to construct the temple, they were surprised to see blood gushing out. Upon digging further, they found a Shiva Lingam. This Shiva Lingam can be seen at the Temple along with a Nandhi Statue.     

BOAT HOUSE is located in Vasalurpatty on the Solakkadu - Thinnanurpatty Road. It is one of the picnic destinations where boating facility is available. In the middle of the lake, there is a small Natural Island. Its best to visit during the day time to have the fun.     

BOTANICAL GARDEN a tourist place in Kolli Hills is the home for a Park, Rose Garden, Eco Friendly Cottages, Herbal Park and a View Point. There is a children's park inside where the entertainments like See-Saw, Wave Slide, Statues of Animals and Merry-Go-Round are available. Flower show takes place in a Porch room that is located inside the garden. Pineapple research farm too can be seen inside the garden.    

VIEW POINTS like Selurnadu and Seekuparai was developed by the State government to develop the tourism. There are park located near the view points. During the month of August, the State government organize an annual festival. View points here are very quite spots from where one can see the beautiful views of the hill station and its surroundings.    

SIDDHAR CAVES are well surrounded by medicinal herbs. It is believed that many siddhars practiced medicine centuries ago. At a time only one or two people can go inside the caves as the size of some caves are so small. On the way this caves, we can see the famous Agaya Gangai water fall.     

SELUR NADU is the Historical Place. One can see the ancient culture at this destination. To help and support a jasmine creeper to grow, the King Pari gave his royal chariot in this historical place.    

TAMPCOL MEDICAL FARM is located between the Kolli Hills, an iconic tourist destination. The Tamil Nadu Medical Plant Farms & Herbal Medicine Corporation Limited (TAMPCOL) formed Tampcol Medical Farm in Namakkal in the year 1983. Plenty of medical herbs, roots and plants are grown here that are used in alternative medicine like Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha. Visitors can visit on all days between 8 am and 7 pm. On-site store is available inside for the visitors to purchase the products made by TAMPCOL for wellness and healing of various illness.    

MINI FALLS located at the Kolli Hills falls from the distance of around 90 feet. Plenty of medicinal herbs and plants can be see in this picnic spot. Nominal entry fees is applicable to visit this falls.
